A bit of our brains only tags human-made things as human made, (different than nature or animal made.) Another part identifies human tools--we know they're tools even if we don't know the name or function.

These paintings find were made to put you in a certain frame of mind: certainty that you're looking at a real, human-made thing, and aware you don't know it's name or function, but...you're already starting to create names, functions, ...stories.
